Surf teams must adhere to the General Rules. Failure to comply fully with
this could result in the loss of competition table points or disqualification.
BASIC RULES
1. Team versus team per match.
2. Five surfers per team.
3. Four waves per surfer, maximum.
3. One surfer – one quota of waves.
4. Twenty waves per team, maximum
5.1 Match time is sixty minutes, maximum.
5.2 Rules 3, 4, and 5 are flexible depending
on surfing conditions.
6.1 To change wave count, each surfer must have equal quota of waves.
6.2 No match time adjustments once match has begun.
7. Every wave counts.
8.1 One judge per match, extra judges per
match optional, maximum seven (7).
8.1a When more than one judge per match, all judges scored totalled and averaged
to achieve one score.
8.2 Judging
point scale
0 - 1 point = below average
2,3,4 points = average
5,6,7 points = good
8 - 9 points = excellent
10 points = supreme
8.3 Judging Criteria. Surfer who executes the most radical, skillful, and tactical maneuvers in the most critical sections of the biggest and/or best waves with the most speed and flow for the longest functional distance per wave.
9. Highest points at the end of match time, or a teams quota of waves, wins the match.
10.1
Ties in matches will be decided by the coach /manager or captain choosing
one surfer including reserve from their respective teams, surfing two waves
per surfer, time of surf off to be decided by match referee/referees depending
on surfing conditions. Highest total score wins.
10.2 If scores are still tied, coach/manager or captain will choose one surfer
including reserve from their respective teams to surf off, one wave per surfer,
match referee/referees to decide surf off time depending on surfing conditions.
Highest total score wins.
10.3 If scores are still tied, count back of best wave from each surfers quota
added together highest, score wins. Still tied, best two (2) waves, still
tied, best three (3) waves. Scores are still locked, best double whammy wins.
